BYD has expanded its Egyptian electric-vehicle range with the launch of the Atto 2, a compact all-electric SUV now offered through local distributor ManDream. The model was introduced in Egypt on September 18, 2026, with an official starting price of EGP 1,349,900.
The Atto 2 joins a rapidly widening group of battery-electric and electrified models in Egypt, where buyers are gaining more choice beyond the premium end of the EV market. It is positioned as a compact crossover for urban use, but its SUV body style and quoted range also make it relevant to drivers who regularly travel between Cairo, the New Administrative Capital, Sheikh Zayed and other major Egyptian cities.
What Egypt gets
ManDream is offering the Atto 2 as a fully electric compact SUV. The distributor states that the vehicle delivers 200 hp and a claimed electric driving range of up to 430km. It also quotes a DC charging time of 19 minutes from 30% to 80%, although real charging time will depend on the charger’s output, battery temperature, state of charge and ambient conditions.
The Atto 2 is listed in Egypt in one specification at launch. Reported dimensions place it firmly in the compact-SUV class:

Why the Atto 2 matters in Egypt
The Atto 2 enters a highly competitive price band in Egypt, but it gives EV shoppers another mainstream SUV-format option rather than a niche city car or a large, high-priced luxury vehicle. At EGP 1.35 million, it is positioned above BYD’s smaller Dolphin Surf EV in the local range while remaining below several larger electric SUVs.
For many drivers, the practical question will be charging rather than headline range. A claimed 430km figure can be useful for planning, but actual range can fall with high cabin-air-conditioning use, motorway speeds, passenger and luggage loads, tyre pressure and hot-weather driving. Those considerations are especially relevant during Egyptian summers, when both battery conditioning and air-conditioning demand can affect energy consumption.
Owners with reliable home or workplace charging will be best placed to use an EV such as the Atto 2 conveniently. Drivers who depend mainly on public charging should first check the locations, connector types, payment arrangements and operating reliability of chargers on their normal routes.
A broader BYD push
The launch strengthens BYD’s presence in Egypt through ManDream, which is part of Mansour Automotive. The local BYD portfolio already includes a mix of EVs and plug-in hybrid models, and the Atto 2 adds another electric SUV option in a category that remains popular with Egyptian private buyers.
For prospective customers, the Atto 2’s arrival means that the buying decision can now focus on the details that matter in daily ownership: access to charging, realistic running range, insurance, aftersales support, battery coverage and the cost of a suitable home charging installation.
